Abstract
The National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was introduced to strengthen urban primary
healthcare systems and improve healthcare accessibility among economically vulnerable urban populations residing in slum areas. Despite expansion of healthcare infrastructure and outreach mechanisms under NUHM, urban slum households continue to experience socioeconomic inequalities, financial barriers, inadequate healthcare awareness, and operational constraints affecting healthcare utilization. In this context, the present study examines the accessibility, affordability, utilization, and adequacy of healthcare services functioning under NUHM in urban slum areas of Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.
